IS ”GLOCAL” PR THE ANSWER?

SATURDAY, MAY 28TH - 17:15 – 18.00 - IS ”GLOCAL” PR THE ANSWER?

This panel aims to discuss the importance of locally adapted PR strategies for new bands that are releasing material & touring internationally in 2011. It is getting increasingly difficult to gain visibility. Thanks to technological innovation & shifting music industry patterns, 2011 is host to an increasing amount of new releases and touring bands operating on the international level. Coupling these facts with the downsized PR departments at the labels makes it more challenging than ever for the music industry's players (from labels over agents to festivals/venues) to get new artists into that critical media spotlight, which is often needed to launch new names.

Christophe Platel
Christophe Platel is Head of Press Office and Medias for Paleo Festival in Switzerland.

 Jan Clausen
Jan Clausen is Managing Director in Queen About Music and took, with the foundation in 2003,  the determining step into self-employment and since then looks after labels like Herbert Grönemeyer's Grönland or the Berlin label Morr Music. Another main focus of his scope of work is the area of Tour-Pr, in particular media like radio and Internet. In addition, Queen About Music runs the Tour-PR of the well-known concert agency fkp Scorpio, Jan Delay, Deichkind, LaBrassBanda and the PR in Germany for the Roskilde Festival. Last but not least, Jan represents the German label of the Danish cult label Crunchy Frog.

Sam De Bruyn

Radio presenter/personality at Studio Brussel. Sam De Bruyn has his own show, “Sound of Sam” (Monday to Thurday from 18.00-21.00), where he is the only presenter at Studio Brussel who has 100% freedom to play whatever he wants.

Manuel Fronhofer
Manuel Fronhofer is editor at the Austrian monthly music magazine, TBA

Torsten Mewes
Torsten Mewes is Managing Director of 247 Public Relations.
He was initially acting as a production manager of various national and international tours. After getting tired of the travelling, he settled in Hamburg and gained a great reputation within the media world during his long lasting PR work for the BMG/RCA and edel records. He looked after the media partners in the national radio, worked closely together with the most important music editorial teams and established several artists in the German market. Realizing the opportunity to connect PR know-how with
his greatly diversified contacts, made him to take the decision to establish his own independent company, 247 Public Relations.
